Leadership
Christ Jesus, as
the Head of his church, presently rules his church by his Word and
his Spirit.
His Word
teaches us that certain men are gifted, called, ordained, and
empowered by the Holy Spirit to oversee the flock until he
returns. These men are called Elders (Acts 14:23, 1 Timothy
5:17, Acts 20:28).
Elders are
to join the Pastor-Teacher (Ephesians 4:11) in the oversight
and government of the church until the Chief Shepherd returns (1 Peter
5:1-4)
